Are you a seasoned procurement professional looking to make a direct operational impact at one of the world's leading healthcare CDMOs? Join our dynamic site procurement team in Basel, where you will manage annual spend across key professional services, driving strategic sourcing, vendor partnerships, and supply continuity that directly enables our life-saving mission.
This is a fully site‑based role. Working together in person supports close, real‑time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.
Location: Basel, 100% onsite
Duration: 1 September 2026 – 31 March 2027
Employment type: Contract / 41 hours per week

What you will do:
Serve as the vital link between Basel site stakeholders and Global Category Managers to drive continuous improvement and cost optimization across Professional Services spend.
Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing initiatives including tendering (RFP/RFQ), commercial negotiations, planning, and contract execution for delegated spend.
Partner with site leaders and controllers to deliver spend and savings forecasts, mitigating operational risks and ensuring continuous service delivery.
Build and maintain high-performing supplier relationships while conducting regular performance reviews and supporting annual supplier quality evaluations.
Drive supplier risk management by conducting comprehensive risk assessments and implementing effective mitigation solutions for single-source or high-risk vendors.
Optimize procurement operations through digital tools, driving the utilization of SAP Ariba, e-Auctions, and online catalogs to lower transactional costs.
Standardize procurement specifications across sites and regions while sharing best practices to foster operational excellence across Lonza’s network.
What we are looking for:
Degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related commercial discipline; CIPS or Einkaufsfachfrau / Einkaufsfachmann certification is an advantage.
Proven track record (5–10 years) in strategic procurement, with hands-on expertise in sourcing, contract management, and third-party spend management.
Strong domain knowledge in Professional Services categories (e.g., consultancy, HR, legal, contingent workforce, or IT services).
Demonstrated success driving savings pipelines, risk mitigation, and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) programs.
Proficiency in key procurement systems and tools, specifically SAP, Ariba, and advanced Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent communication and cross-functional stakeholder management skills with a strong customer service mindset.
Business fluency in English is required; local market knowledge or German language skills are a plus.
