Senior Strategic Buyer - Direct Material

The role:The Senior Strategic Buyer is responsible for developing sourcing strategies for the Filters and Single Use consumables as well manages key global suppliers in these categories. You will support one of Lonza’s sites in the network, understanding their needs and developing sourcing strategies for the relevant materials. These materials play a critical role in Lonza’s manufacturing processes both upstream and downstream.
More specifically you will ensure the continuous and reliable supply of indirect materials necessary for production, mitigating any potential risks!
Key responsibilities:Support the Central Category Manager with the development of category strategies by providing insights into site-specific current and future business needs.
Complete and strictly implement category strategies at the site level to ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
Lead sourcing initiatives for delegated spend across assigned sites, ensuring value delivery and cost optimisation.
Provide purchasing expertise in areas such as tendering, negotiation tactics, planning, and contracting to drive efficiency.
Optimise transactional costs and improve the efficiency of procurement activities through automation and process improvements.
Work with site collaborators to understand and assist in meeting current and future business requirements.
Partner with site controllers to deliver accurate spend and savings forecasts to management, ensuring financial targets are met.
Manage a portfolio of suppliers, ensuring compliance with company policies and requirements.
Develop and implement solutions to mitigate key business risks, ensuring robust and resilient procurement processes.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Economics, Engineering, Procurement, or Supply Chain.
Demonstrated customer service approach with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks simultaneously.
Extensive experience and knowledge of both Operational Procurement and Strategic Buying/Category Management.
Demonstrated expertise in tendering, negotiation tactics, planning, and contracting.
Proficiency in managing third-party spend.
Hands-on experience using SAP ERP and SAP Ariba in a procurement role.
