Lonza Pharma & Biotech has an immediate opening for an experienced Analytical Development Scientist for their Inhalation technology in Bend, OR.

This is a great opportunity to join a growing team of engineers and scientists passionate about inhalation delivery routes and deliverables for advancing private compounds. As an Analytical Scientist for Inhalation, you will be responsible for method development and validation to support process development, tech transfer, release testing, and stability activities for inhalation programs.

Additionally, you’ll be the subject matter expert for quality control and the analytical development group for inhalation testing and release for inhalation products.

Key responsibilities:
  • Document all experiments and results thoroughly with detailed observations
  • Exercise technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies and goals
  • Critically assess experimental data and provide interpretation of results
  • Prepare technical reports, summaries, and protocols
  • Prepare detailed scientific presentations for clients, colleagues, and management
  • Participate in data reviews and discussions
  • Demonstrate a high level of professional expertise in one or more technical areas
  • Act as mentor/coach for developing Research Chemists and Engineers
Key requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry and substantial related work experience; or Graduate degree in Analytical Chemistry and significant related experience
  • Experienced in method development, qualification, and validation around common pulmonary analytical techniques
  • Familiarity with analyzing and interpreting common analytical techniques used for pulmonary applications such as NGI (Next Generation Impactor), DUSA (Dosage Unit Sampling Apparatus), particle sizing, HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography), KF (Karl Fischer)
  • Understanding of ICH (International Council for Harmonization of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use) regulatory guidelines related to advancing pulmonary formulations
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a highly collaborative, team-oriented, customer-focused environment
  • Needs strong communication abilities and experience in a fast-paced, diverse research and manufacturing setting
