What you will do: 

  • Take full ownership of the group’s Property Damage & Business Interruption, Construction/Erection All Risk (CEAR), and Marine/Cargo programs, ensuring they are optimized for Lonza’s evolving global footprint

  • Lead and coordinate the end-to-end renewal process for the assigned insurance programs, leveraging your expertise to negotiate the best possible terms and conditions for the group

  • Offer end-to-end insurance service for high-value engineering and construction projects in partnership with Global Engineering and CAPEX Procurement

  • Oversee claims management process for the assigned insurance programs and provide support and guidance to internal stakeholders

  • Oversee global risk engineering activities and surveys, collaborating with site operations, EHS and Global Engineering

  • Ensure all assigned insurance programs meet international insurance regulations, including tax obligations, audits, and local transactional requirements across multiple jurisdictions

  • Provide due diligence and integration support for M&A activities

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for internal stakeholders such as Legal, Finance, EHS

What we are looking for:

  • Extensive years of professional experience in Property and Engineering insurance, preferably within the Life Sciences or Chemical fields

  • Proven experience managing insurance programs for large, multi-national organizations with a track record of optimizing conditions

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required (Master’s preferred) in business administration, , Finance or Risk Management; a scientific degree in engineering is a plus

  • Strong commercial insurance knowledge combined with the ability to support complex business analysis

  • Strong team player in the framework of a small team as well as in an international, multi-cultural and cross-functional context

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to build relationships with a diverse network, from site-level to senior leadership

  • An independent personality who can handle multiple competing priorities with ease and the ability to anticipate issues, identify challenges, create effective solutions and implement them successfully

  • Business fluency in English is mandatory; business fluency in German is a significant advantage

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and the ability to deliver high-quality presentations to cross-functional teams
