The Waste Logistics Expert plays a central role in our waste logistics operations, acting as a high-level specialist and the primary deputy for the Waste Logistics Manager. In this capacity, you will ensure that all waste disposal processes are safe, compliant, and efficient while actively contributing to the optimization of our logistics and sustainability goals.

The role of this person is to serve as a vital support function within waste management, maintaining high-quality services that meet the expectations of various stakeholders, regulatory requirements, and operational targets. You will be responsible for a broad scope of different facilities.

The hired candidate will act as a key interface between operational logistics, production plants, laboratories, strategic growth projects, safety departments, and the supply chain. You will assist in ensuring that our facilities meet long-term sustainability objectives and strictly adhere to GMP and safety standards.

They will also act as a proactive problem solver, identifying operational challenges early and initiating measures to ensure Business Continuity through alternative disposal routes and data-driven process improvements.

This role is primarily based on site. Working together in person supports close, real‑time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards. We offer flexibility to work remotely for no more than 20% of your time. Requests are considered on a case‑by‑case basis, in line with business needs.

What you will do:

  • Take operative and strategic responsibility for waste-related activities across different facilities

  • Ensure strict adherence to all relevant GMP, safety, and environmental regulations, including performing detailed risk assessments.

  • Act as the central point of contact for internal teams (Production, EHS, Engineering) and external waste disposal partners.

  • Monitor the "disposability" of materials and secure alternative disposal paths to prevent operational bottlenecks.

  • Standardize cross-functional waste processes and leverage technology or data-driven approaches to improve efficiency.

  • Control KPIs, generate detailed reports, and derive actionable improvement measures to promote recycling and sustainable solutions.

  • Support and represent the Waste Logistics Manager in strategic projects and daily management tasks.

What we are looking for:

  • Degree in Chemical/Pharma Technology, Environmental Engineering, Biotechnology, Waste Management, or a comparable qualification (alternatively, extensive practical experience in a similar environment).

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in chemical or biopharmaceutical production or long-term operational experience in high-complexity logistics.

  • Deep knowledge of safety standards (SECO, SUVA, EKAS), GMP guidelines, and the handling of hazardous materials.

  • Experience with ERP and logistics systems such as SAP, TrackWise, Syncrotess, or similar tools.

  • Advanced IT and data analysis capabilities, particularly with MS Office, PowerBI, and modern reporting tools.

  • Strong analytical thinking, resilience, and the ability to lead and develop teams when acting in a deputy capacity.

  • Very good command of both German and English is required for cross-functional collaboration.
