We are currently looking for a Technologist to join our global Purification Development & Viral Clearance team in Slough.
The Technologist will be lab based and will be responsible for setting up for and supporting commercial stages of work, analysing and preparing data and maintaining systems and equipment within the laboratory. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your current lab skills and work towards becoming a subject matter expert within the Viral Clearance Team.
Core Responsibilities:
- Prepare buffers and reagents
- Maintaining systems and ensuring data is kept up to date
- Ordering of materials/consumables
- Maintaining freezer inventory, tracking freezer compliance and monitoring alarms, including out of hours rota
- Booking and preparing shipments including samples, buffers and equipment
- Involvement in virus commercial stages
- Training a range of lab tasks
- Engage in quality management system, eg raising of quality records
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Use AKTA chromatography systems to perform column packing, HETP analysis and set up for virus reduction filtrations (VRF)
- Capable of reviewing AKTA / Unicorn methods and performing small scale purification chromatography runs
- Analyse data and interpret results including troubleshooting
- Draft new SOPs, sampling plans and technical review of scopes for external vendors
- Preparing protocols and reports
Key Requirements
- BSC Qualified or equivalent in a relevant scientific field
- Working experience within an industrial Laboratory environment is desirable, for example a placement or summer job.
- Experience working with AKTA systems / Unicorn software is desirable, for example as part of degree practical modules
- Knowledge of working in a GLP/GMP environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
