Job Title: Technologist, Cell Banking
Location: Slough
Day Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday with additional weekend working required (1 in 5 weekends).
The role:
We have an opportunity for a Technologist to join our Cell Banking team in Slough. The role of the Technologist is to create and maintain cell banks of mammalian cell lines within a cGMP clean room environment. Cell banks are the starting material for the manufacture of clinical product at Lonza Biologics’ manufacturing sites worldwide.
This is a fully site‑based role. Working together in person supports close, real‑time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

What you will do:
- Perform aseptic cell culture operations to establish and maintain GMP‑compliant cell banks, including revival, subculture, pooling, accurate batch record completion, logbook entry, cell counting, and environmental monitoring.
- Carry out routine laboratory maintenance, including equipment checks, stock management, and cleaning activities.
- Prepare stock solutions and culture media, followed by sterile filtration under aseptic conditions.
- Manage inventory of frozen cell vials stored in liquid nitrogen, ensuring accurate tracking and documentation.
- Produce development reports, testing documentation, and release packages in line with quality requirements.
- Support role‑specific responsibilities, such as booking tests, arranging shipments, coordinating bank releases, managing facility/equipment tasks, or creating and archiving stock files.
- Maintain current cGMP and safety training
What we are looking for:
Degree in a scientific or quality-related discipline
Experience / knowledge in Cell Culture, aseptic techniques is highly desirable
Outstanding organizational skills to manage tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
Strong problem-solving abilities to address and resolve challenges promptly.
