Senior Strategic Buyer - Indirect Procurement - (m/f/d)

The actual location of this job is in Porriño, Spain.

Once the onboarding period is completed, there is the possibility of adopting a hybrid work model (two days of remote work per week).

The Senior Strategic Buyer will collaborate effectively with the Central Procurement team to deliver value to site stakeholders and partner across sites to ensure business continuity and that Procurement meet site business needs. You will also manage supplier relationships and performance at site level at the relevant Lonza sites, including providing purchasing expertise in tendering, negotiation, contracting and purchasing systems.

What you’ll do:

• Collaborate closely with Central Procurement and support category managers by providing site-specific business needs and contributing to category strategy development.

• Implement and execute category strategies across sites while driving sourcing initiatives for delegated spend.

• Lead tendering, negotiations, contracting, and provide purchasing expertise to ensure optimal commercial outcomes.

• Support global and regional sourcing efforts, promote standardization across sites, and enhance procurement efficiency through automation and digital tools.

• Track savings performance, identify risks and opportunities, and drive the use of e‑catalogues, e‑auctions, and other advanced sourcing technologies.

• Ensure supply continuity for indirect materials, maintain strong supplier relationships, and manage supplier portfolios in line with policies and compliance requirements.

• Conduct comprehensive supply‑risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for financial, capacity, quality, and single‑source risks.

What we’re looking for:

• Minimum BSC qualified within Business, Engineering, Procurement or Supply Chain.

• Experience and knowledge of both Operational Procurement and Strategic Buying/Category management) of consumables, services and CAPEX.

• Background within a Regulated industry: Pharmaceutical, FMCG, Automotive etc. with an understanding and involvement in Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9000.

• Able to persuade and influence stake holders to achieve best outcome for Lonza.

• Hands on experience of using SAP ERP and SAP Ariba (indirect only) in a purchasing/procurement role.

• Hands on experience of using Microsoft Office.
