Job Summary:
The Senior Scientist's core responsibilities involve the isolation and banking of human primary cells and the design and execution of various in vitro cell-based bioassays. As part of your role, good record keeping and skilled presentation of data will be essential. The role will involve leading multiple client projects as well as developing current and new bioassay platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting existing bioassay platforms to assess the immune response to a wide range of therapies (biologics, cell & gene therapies, small molecules, nucleic acids)
Isolation, banking and characterization of human PBMC (peripheral blood mononuclear cells)
Prepare high quality reports and data summaries
Performing lab and area inspections to maintain high levels of quality and safety
Contribute to lab cleaning rota and Operational Excellence initiatives
Effectively communicate with external customers and internal stakeholders across departments and sites
Provide mentoring and training to junior members of the team
Key Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences/Biotechnology and relevant experience in an industrial lab environment. Master's Degree is preferred
5+ years of Immunology cell line experience in a lab setting and/or academia
Excellent knowledge of human immunology, primary cell culture and cell-based assays
Familiar with some of the following techniques: flow cytometry, ELISpot/FluoroSpot, Luminex, ELISA and reporter gene assays
A team player able to share knowledge with others and actively participate and lead scientific discussions with other members of the team and collaborators
Ability to mentor and train junior scientists in the team and potential for line management role
Excellent interpersonal skills, with good communication and attention to detail
A demonstrable analytical approach to problem-solving
