Role Purpose / Summary
The Senior Manager, Vendor Management role is built on two key pillars: Vendor Governance and Commercial Governance. It involves working closely with strategic partners, driving vendor strategy, and ensuring effective commercial oversight, including budget responsibility. The IT Vendor Manager is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of vendor relationships across the IT organization. This role ensures that vendors deliver maximum value through cost optimization, contract performance, service quality, and strategic alignment with business objectives. The individual collaborates closely with procurement, finance, IT operations, and senior leadership to drive effective vendor governance and risk management.
Key Accountabilities
Vendor Strategy & Governance
Develop and implement the IT vendor management strategy to support business and technology objectives.
Establish governance frameworks, including performance scorecards, SLAs, KPIs, and quarterly business reviews.
Ensure vendors adhere to contractual terms, compliance requirements, and operational standards.
Contract & Commercial Management
Lead the negotiation, renewal, and optimization of IT contracts, focusing on cost efficiency and value creation.
Partner with procurement to manage RFPs, vendor selection, and competitive bidding processes.
Identify cost-saving opportunities through consolidation, renegotiation, and benchmarking.
Performance & Relationship Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for IT suppliers.
Monitor service delivery, escalate issues, and drive remediation plans when performance gaps arise.
Build strong vendor relationships to improve collaboration, innovation, and service quality.
Financial & Lifecycle Oversight
Manage IT vendor budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and spend reporting.
Support license management, subscription tracking, and optimization of consumption-based services.
Ensure timely renewals and reduce risk of unplanned cost escalations or service interruptions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with IT towers to understand service requirements and strategic priorities.
Engage stakeholders across finance, procurement, legal, and security to streamline vendor processes.
Contribute to IT strategy planning, investment decisions, and portfolio management.
Key Requirements
Proven experience in IT Vendor Management / Supplier Management.
Strong contract negotiation and commercial management expertise.
Experience managing SLAs, KPIs, and vendor performance frameworks.
Financial acumen (budgeting, forecasting, cost optimization, spend tracking).
Strong stakeholder management across IT, procurement, finance, and leadership teams.
Solid understanding of IT services (infrastructure, applications, cloud environments).
Certifications (incl. professional qualifications) i.e. ACCA, GPHR, CIPS, PgMP
