Senior Laboratory Coordinator

The role:Senior Lab Coordinator is needed in Slough, UK, to document lab work, follow Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), impact Development Services strategy and innovation. This is a lab-based role where lab work is fully documented, carried out safely and in accordance of cGMP where necessary.
Please note that this will supervise and coordinate all activities associated with the maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment within Development Services and the broader network!
Key responsibilities:Coordinate engineering work within your designated laboratory areas, acting as a key liaison between the Site Laboratory Services team, vendors, contractors, and engineering.
Prepare rotas for team activities (e.g., lab cleans, area rotas) and monitor adherence, making recommendations based on departmental changes.
Coordinate storage and inventory of consumables, assist with ordering items, and build new stock items, driving improvements to current systems.
Review area log books and ensure the completion of outstanding actions.
Purchase relevant new equipment and monitor equipment lifecycle, making recommendations based on performance and historical data in line with the departmental budget (CAPEX). Introduce new technologies and innovations to the department.
Maintain critical metrics around equipment performance and utilisation rates, raising awareness in the department and wider forums, and recommending improvements based on data to improve KPIs.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and successfully implement new ideas for better processes.
Supervise daily tasks for junior Laboratory Coordinators and Technicians across departments.
Serve as a trained and active Safety RES representative for the department.
Lead X-matrix projects for the Department and/or Development Services.
Represent the department for any new or repurposed laboratory space.
Bachelor’s degree in biology, STEM, life sciences, or a relevant scientific background with equivalent experience also considered.
Proven project management skills, capable of leading department-wide projects.
Proficiency in Excel and outstanding organisational skills.
Ability to build and maintain a cross-department network.
Competence in managing multiple processes impacting department deliverables (lab readiness, ordering, safety, equipment lifecycle, etc.).
Excellent communication skills, working effectively with both lab employees and management.
