Senior Engineer, Calibration

The Senior Engineer, Calibration is responsible for the overall calibration program management at the Lonza Walkersville manufacturing facility and satellite sites. Apply measurement science, mathematics, physics, to develop, document and maintain calibration systems, procedures and methods. Develop, implement and maintain calibration documentation, including reports, protocols, and standard operating procedures. Use statistics to analyze measurement standards and processes. Recommend calibration standards, methods, and specifications for new or changed instrumentation. Responsibilities include supporting site quality needs, KPI identification and monitoring, validation and engineering support, and strategic direction of the calibration program.
Key Responsibilities:
Handle the site’s calibration computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) (Beamex CMX), including developing methods, managing standards, and reviewing work orders.
Analyze calibration data, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions to improve system performance and accuracy.
Ensure alignment with calibration representatives and system owners across the Lonza network while supporting regulatory and business requirements.
Be responsible for calibration critical metrics, see opportunities for improvement, and implement strategies to achieve long-term site goals.
Provide technical expertise, solve calibration issues, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Handle calibration-related audits, regulatory compliance, SOP revisions, and vendor relationships.
Serve as the calibration SME for CAPEX projects, commissioning, qualification activities, and instrumentation specifications.
Mentor and train calibration technicians while knowing the latest with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
Key Requirements:
High school diploma required; a college degree in a scientific field or related experience preferred.
Expertise in calibration principles, techniques, and industry standard methodologies.
Solid understanding of electronics, communication protocols, and mechanical systems.
Experience with cGMP documentation, calibration software, and data analysis tools.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, as-builts, and engineering documentation.
Proficiency in using hand tools and performing calibration procedures.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and training skills.
Preferred experience with CMX software.

The full-time base annual salary for this onsite position is expected to range is between $94,000.00 and $150,000.00. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and job-related knowledge.
