Location: The actual location of this job is in Portsmouth, NH. This role follows Lonza’s Global Hybrid Workplace policy.
The Raw Materials Buyer will be responsible for the procurement of raw materials essential for biopharmaceutical manufacturing, ensuring timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to quality standards. This role involves managing supplier relationships and optimizing the supply chain for critical components.

What you will do:
- Execute procurement activities for a diverse range of raw materials used in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, supporting Lonza Biologics' manufacturing operations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favorable outcomes in various situations.
- Collaborate closely with Planning, Quality, and Manufacturing departments to understand material requirements, specifications, and production schedules.
- Manage purchase orders, ensure accurate data entry into ERP systems, and resolve discrepancies with suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance against established KPIs, including on-time delivery, quality, and cost, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain compliance with all internal procurement policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., cGMP).
- Proactively identify and escalate potential supply chain disruptions or risks, developing contingency plans to ensure continuity of supply.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives and long-term supplier agreements.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Science, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Progressive experience in raw material procurement, preferably within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry.
- Demonstrated experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPSM, APICS) is a plus.
- Experience with risk management and supplier qualification processes is a plus.
