Summary

Contribute to Lonza AG's mission by using basic and sophisticated microbiological techniques.

Key Accountabilities
  • Perform, analyze, and interpret QC and microbial limits testing according to USP and regulatory requirements for raw materials, finished products, and stability samples.

  • Conduct environmental monitoring, including water sampling and testing.

  • Serve as a backup to the Microbiology Team Leader as needed.

  • Train analysts on microbiology methods and sampling techniques.

  • Conduct investigations and complete CAPA in response to laboratory findings.

  • Manage change controls optimally.

  • Support microbiology projects from production or formulations development departments.

  • Participate actively in customer and regulatory audits.

  • Develop and implement validation protocols for test methods and equipment qualification.

  • Author and review SOPs and test methods related to microbiology.

  • Ensure the microbiological integrity of environments, equipment, and facilities.

  • Lead product testing based on internal and customer specifications.

  • Coordinate 3rd party laboratory testing and reporting of data and environmental monitoring when vital.

  • Report on testing results, including Certificates of Analysis (CoA’s).

  • Maintain equipment, media, and sample logs as the need arises.

  • Ensure the microbiology lab is adequately supplied and maintained.

  • Perform additional responsibilities to support the business as requested.

  • Enforce to all defined Safety and Sustainability requirements and expectations.

  • Report and address Safety and Sustainability issues promptly.

  • Stop work if necessary to maintain safety.

Key Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • 5 years of relevant experience

  • Pharma and GMP experience preferred
