Location. Lonza Porriño, Galicia, Spain.

We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to lead and deliver complex capital investment engineering projects in a regulated environment. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives in terms of time, cost, and quality.

What you will do:

  • In close collaboration with the sponsor, perform cost-benefit analysis and develop implementation strategies to support project justification and business case development.

  • Prepare required deliverables for internal/global decision stage gates and capital funding requests.

  • Define user requirement specifications (URS), project scope, budget estimates, and schedules for assigned projects.

  • Ensure all project deliverables and activities align with project objectives, KPIs, and overall business strategy (e.g., BSR/MPS, SMP, Sustainability).

  • Lead multidisciplinary, cross-functional teams to achieve project goals by effectively managing scope, budget, and schedule baselines.

  • Ensure compliance with Quality, Regulatory, Legal, EHS, Sustainability, and innovation requirements.

  • Take ownership of yearly CapEx targets and oversee the capitalization process of fixed assets.

  • Manage project budgets efficiently, focusing on fit-for-purpose and proven solutions executed in a simple and effective way.

  • Develop and implement communication plans to keep stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Review technical specifications, procurement packages, and project documentation to ensure compliance with engineering standards and procedures.

  • Monitor project milestones, risks, and KPIs, providing regular reporting and timely escalation when needed.

  • Oversee construction, commissioning, and qualification activities through to project start-up.

  • Ensure smooth and timely handover to operations, supporting operational readiness prior to first use.

  • Maintain full accountability for project execution from initiation to delivery, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to project team members.

  • Lead by example in safety, anticipate risks, enforce safe practices, and intervene when necessary.

  • Act as a role model, especially for new hires, recognizing and promoting strong safety behaviors.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Engineering (Industrial Engineering preferred or equivalent).

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).

  • Proven experience in capital projects in Pharma & Biotech or related industry (Life Sciences, Healthcare, Fine Chemicals, Food & Beverage…) both leading cross-functional project teams and managing project budgets (up to 5-10 mEUR).

  • Experience in cost control and project management tools and methodologies (Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification desired).

  • Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and analyze complex datasets effectively.

  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of the impact of decisions.

  • Intermediate level of MS Project, AutoCAD, and SAP.

  • Knowledge of FDA/EMA cGxP, ASME-BPE, and ISPE guidelines is a must.

  • A positive, proactive, diligent, and collaborative mindset with openness to dialogue and continuous improvement.
