Production Planner Master Scheduler

Lonza in Vacaville is seeking a dedicated Production Planner Master Scheduler to develop and manage executable production schedules for designated manufacturing areas. This role ensures alignment with labor, material, and capacity requirements while coordinating closely with Product, Production, and Engineering teams. The Master Scheduler is responsible for resolving schedule disruptions, managing material availability, and maintaining compliance with manufacturing requirements in support of efficient and reliable operations.
Key responsibilities:
Develop and maintain short-term, executable production schedules incorporating cross-functional input and aligned with capacity, labor, and material constraints.
Optimize schedules by balancing demand priorities with efficient resource utilization and production sequencing.
Convert and release production orders, assess material availability, and manage long lead-time allocations.
Monitor MRP outputs, address scheduling conflicts, and escalate issues to leadership as needed.
Maintain planning system parameters to support effective scheduling and capacity planning across shared resources.
Collaborate with key departments to assess and resolve capacity constraints and drive schedule feasibility.
Track KPIs, perform root-cause analysis, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide rotational off-shift scheduling support as needed.
Key requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
Proven track record to influence both Supply Chain and functional leaders to support inventory management/strategy recommendations.
Outstanding analytical skills with the ability to define metrics and identify issues through root cause analysis.
Proficient with MS Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to apply Business Intelligence systems to extract data and generate reports.
Knowledge of SAP and APO scheduling tools is a plus.

As required by law in this state, the quoted salary range for this position is $85,000-$135,000. We use broad salary ranges that reflect the competitive market for similar jobs, provide sufficient opportunity for growth as you gain experience and expand responsibilities, while also allowing for differentiation on performance. Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at the company between the lower and the middle part of the applicable range. We tailor our offers within the range based on job-related factors, including organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic area and the selected candidate’s experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and/or communication skills and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. This range is only inclusive of base salary, and base pay is just one component of Lonza’s total compensation package for employees.
