Today, Lonza is a global leader in life sciences operating across five continents. While we work in science, there’s no magic formula to how we do it. Our greatest scientific solution is dedicated people working together, devising ideas that help businesses help people. In exchange, we let our people own their careers. Their ideas, big and small, genuinely improve the world — and that’s the kind of work we want to be part of.

The actual location of this role is in Visp. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates and their families, if needed.

About the Role

Within the Process Analytics & Data Intelligence (PADI) team, embedded directly within Operations and Process Development, we work at the intersection of process understanding, operational performance, process improvement, and data intelligence.

We do not see data, dashboards, or GMP deliverables as isolated reporting activities. Every dataset, every process trend, every recurring manual task, every deviation investigation, and every operational pain point is an opportunity to improve how the organization operates.

We are looking for a Process Analytics & Operational Intelligence Expert who combines process understanding, analytical thinking, operational curiosity, and technical data capabilities to help drive continuous improvement across process development and manufacturing environments.

This role combines:

  • Process analytics

  • Operational intelligence

  • Process improvement

  • Data analysis

  • Foundational data workflows

  • GMP operational support

  • Advanced process monitoring

What You Will Do

  • Build trusted, analytics-ready datasets by integrating, contextualizing, and structuring operational data from systems such as PI, MES, ELN, instrument platforms, and manufacturing data sources.

  • Work closely with mammalian manufacturing and process teams to understand how operational data is generated, used, and interpreted within real manufacturing and GMP workflows.

  • Analyze process trends, variability, bottlenecks, and performance drivers across batches, campaigns, and workflows using statistical and analytical techniques.

  • Develop operational dashboards, analytical views, and process intelligence solutions used daily by MSAT, Process Development, Manufacturing, QA, and Operations teams

  • Translate complex operational and manufacturing datasets into actionable insights and improvement opportunities that support process robustness and operational performance.

  • Support GMP deliverables and reporting activities while identifying opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, and improve underlying data and operational workflows.

  • Improve operational data quality, traceability, contextualization, and usability to enable scalable analytics and reliable decision-making.

  • Collaborate closely with MSAT, Manufacturing, QA, Automation, IT, and global data teams to deliver scalable, operationally relevant, and production-ready data and analytics solutions.

Who You Are

  • You are passionate about turning complex process and manufacturing data into actionable insights and scalable solutions.

  • You think beyond dashboards and reporting, focusing on how data can improve process understanding, operational performance, and decision-making.

  • You are comfortable working close to mammalian manufacturing and process teams to understand operational context, data meaning, and business needs.

  • You enjoy working at the intersection of analytics, operational data, process improvement, and digital transformation.

  • You are curious about how data is generated, structured, contextualized, and consumed across operational environments.

  • You communicate clearly and can translate complex datasets and analyses into practical recommendations for operational and scientific stakeholders.

  • You are hands-on, collaborative, and comfortable working across technical, scientific, and operational teams.

  • You are motivated by solving real operational challenges and building scalable solutions that can be embedded into day-to-day operations.

What You Bring

Experience or strong exposure to:

  • Process analytics

  • Operational analytics

  • Manufacturing/process data

  • Process improvement

  • Industrial or operational data environments

Practical knowledge of:

  • SQL

  • Python

  • Statistical analysis

  • Dashboarding and visualization

  • Data pipelines or ETL concepts

Exposure to tools such as:

  • Seeq

  • Statistica

  • SIMCA

  • Power BI

  • PI System

  • Azure

  • Git

  • Or equivalent analytics/data platforms

CDMO experience or understanding of mammalian manufacturing, process development, or bioprocess operations is strongly preferred.

Interest in:

  • Process behavior and variability

  • Manufacturing operations

  • Operational intelligence

  • GMP process support

  • Continuous improvement

  • Digital transformation
