Job Title: Principal Data Engineer

Location: Hyderabad, India

We are seeking a Principal Data Engineer to build and evolve the digital backbone for the Advanced Synthesis (ADS) organization. You will design, develop, and maintain cloud‑native data pipelines that connect ELN, LIMS, MES, ERP, and scientific systems into a unified, scalable, Azure-based data platform.
Working at the intersection of science, data, and technology, you will ensure data is accurate, traceable, reusable, and analytics‑ready for modeling and decision‑making. This is a senior, hands‑on role requiring close collaboration with scientists, data scientists, application developers, and IT teams to transform complex workflows into automated, compliant, production‑grade data products.

What you will get:
  • Impactful leadership role where you help shape ADS’s cloud data ecosystem and set engineering standards for scalable, enterprise-grade design.
  • Hands-on ownership of Azure data engineering technologies including ADF, ADLS, Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, and integration frameworks such as SnapLogic.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with scientists, data scientists, developers, and IT to enable downstream analytics, modeling, and AI.
  • Opportunity to build reusable data assets that uphold FAIR and ALCOA+ principles, improving traceability and data quality across ADS.
  • Modern engineering culture with CI/CD, Azure DevOps, automation, monitoring, and reliability engineering practices

What you will do:
  • Build and maintain enterprise data pipelines: Design, implement, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines across ELN, LIMS, MES, ERP, and other scientific systems using ADF, Databricks, or equivalent tools.
  • Develop Azure cloud data platforms: Manage ingestion, transformation, storage, and compute layers across ADLS, Synapse, and Microsoft Fabric to ensure scalability and performance.
  • Enable system interoperability: Implement APIs, integration middleware, and iPaaS pipelines (SnapLogic) enabling seamless, traceable data exchange.
  • Design reusable, high-quality data assets: Standardize schemas, metadata, lineage, and cataloging aligned with FAIR, ALCOA+, and internal compliance frameworks.
  • Partner with scientific teams: Work with data scientists and application developers to support data modeling, MDM, reference data, and analytics needs.
  • Ensure compliance & validation: Support SOP documentation, validation activities, and regulatory-aligned data practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement: Improve performance, monitoring, reusability, and automation through CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps.
What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
  • 5–10 years of advanced experience in data engineering, data solutions, or cloud data platforms.
  • Hands‑on expertise with Azure ADF, ADLS, Synapse, Microsoft Fabric.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and ETL/ELT engineering.
  • Experience with integration tools such as SnapLogic, APIs (REST/GraphQL), and interoperability patterns.
  • Familiarity with laboratory and manufacturing systems (ELN, LIMS, MES). And Strong grounding in data governance, lineage, FAIR, ALCOA+, and quality controls.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD, validation, and modern collaborative development workflows.
