Pilot Operations Lead

We have an exciting opportunity to work as an Operations Lead within our Pilot team. The successful candidate will possess in-depth technical and pilot scale knowledge and will be responsible for leading and managing a team in their DSP operations) within the MSAT pilot scientific team. You will be accountable for technical / operational oversight and monitoring whilst delivering successful batch results and customer outcomes, reporting to the pilot plant manager. The role will possess influence and credibility across the site and developing in the global network in area of expertise. 

Key responsibilities:

• Management, leadership, oversight and development of a team of direct reports
• Successful planning, preparation and on time delivery of standard and complex pilot stages of work in collaboration with internal project teams and external
• Maintain oversight of quality, safety, commercial business results and batch logistics for DSP pilot facilities and operations
• Leverage technical, operational knowledge and effective communication as well as established relationships with internal site peers to effectively influence project discussions
• Accountable for all aspects of performance management, objective setting and supporting personal development
• Organisational change to improve business results.  Proactively anticipates training and operational gaps within area and in self-managing in resolving  
• Accountable for the completion of continuous improvement activities including EHS processes, reducing costs

Key requirements:

• BSc/BEng within Biological science or biochemical engineering disciplines
• Previous Supervisory experience
• Proven experience and understanding of technical operations gained either from laboratory development or manufacturing operations background in DSP
• Ability to technically understand and support both routine and complex non-routine pilot operations with a proven track record of successful pilot scale expertise.
• Broad understanding of the manufacturing process as a whole and Lonza business practices and a deep understanding of specific operations. 
• Strong analytical skills
• Proficient in structured data analysis/interpretation, identifying trends and offering novel solutions
