Pilot Operation DSP Scientist

The role:The role of the Pilot Operations Downstream Processing (DSP) Scientist is to support the execution of the technical transfer of new or existing processes into pilot from both external and internal customers using a defined structured approach according to standard procedures. Situated in Slough, UK, this role is essential for supporting the scale-up and transfer of processes needed for network manufacturing capacity. As a valued member of our pilot Operations team, you will contribute significantly to the technical transfer of new or existing processes into the pilot, ensuring they meet our rigorous standards and defined procedures.
Collaborating closely with Process Development and New Production Introduction (NPI) scientists, you will determine the most effective approaches for batch execution, ensuring seamless communication and problem resolution throughout the process. This role will also involve planning batch logistics and gaining hands-on experience with brand-new equipment and DSP operations.
The role is best suited for a candidate with knowledge and technical understanding of the purification of antibodies.
Key responsibilities:
Prepare comprehensive process descriptions and laboratory data files batch records, evaluate requirements, and order raw materials for USP or DSP operations, ensuring strict adherence to our world-class standards.
Collaborate with process development, R&T, and NPI scientists within the MSAT team to flawlessly plan and manage daily tasks, operating plant equipment and associated analytical technologies.
Develop expertise to successfully implement solutions to routine process issues and identify trends through data analysis.
Compile and analyse batch data to build detailed process summary reports for customers, maintaining our ambition for excellence.
Complete Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) protocols, contributing to the continuous improvement of pilot operations through on-the-job training and collaboration with peers.
Identify and complete improvement activities to reduce costs, increase yield, and improve efficiency, ensuring our processes compete globally.
Key requirements:
BSc/BEng or equivalent experience in Biological Science or Biochemical Engineering.
Proven experience with technical operations, equipment, and analytical techniques in DSP areas.
Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team, demonstrating an understanding of numerical data analysis and technical documentation preparation.
Meticulous attention to detail, proven problem-solving abilities, and self-motivation with a positive attitude and a strong desire to develop technical expertise in DSP or equivalent experience.
