We are seeking an Operational Buyer to join our Operational Buyer Team, part of Central Supply Chain team in Visp, this position will support Small Molecules operations.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the reliability and efficiency of supply chain activities by proactively managing supplier performance and ensuring smooth execution of the Material Requirements Plan (MRP).
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Performance & Management
- Monitor and track supplier performance, providing feedback to Strategic Buyers and Category Managers
- Drive continuous improvement in supplier performance, including on-time delivery, quality, and compliance
- Lead and resolve Level 2 vendor escalations, including:
- Delivery delays and expediting activities
- MRP-driven changes (push-outs/pull-ins)
- Missing or late purchase order confirmations
- Pricing discrepancies
- Delivery and shipping issues
Procurement Operations
- Collaborate with Procurement teams to ensure accurate and up-to-date material and vendor master data in SAP
- Support supplier qualification, onboarding, and implementation of supplier changes
- Ensure relevant Procurement Master Data is available and maintained in SAP so the Material Requirements Plan (MRP) can be calculated reliably and the PO creation process can be as effective as possible.
- Cooperate closely with Supply Chain Teams in Visp to ensure needs are covered and business is well running
- Manage Vendor Returns (RMAs), including cost recovery and replacements
- Handle Accounts Payable (AP) inquiries, such as invoice discrepancies
- Conduct regular open order review meetings with suppliers
Strategic & Cross-Functional Support
- Support onboarding and approval of new raw materials and suppliers with internal stakeholders
- Participate in competitive bidding processes and execute RFx activities in line with policy
- Assist Strategic Buyers in negotiating low-value contracts
- Support initiatives led by Central Category Managers and Site Strategic Buyers
- Perform additional duties as required
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in a similar procurement or operational buying role
- Strong expertise in SAP or comparable ERP systems
- Significant experience in purchasing raw materials
- Demonstrated ability to manage vendor performance and drive improvement plans
- Experience in contract negotiation
- Strong commercial acumen and strategic mindset
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Fluency in English and German (mandatory)
