We are thrilled to unveil an outstanding opportunity for a Lead Scientist, R&D (R66736) at Lonza AG in Slough, UK. This role is uniquely positioned to craft, optimize, and implement small-scale cell culture platforms, focusing on deep well plates (DWP). As part of our ambitious R&D team, you will help drive innovation and foster positive relationships with academic institutions. Key responsibilities:
  • Design, optimize, and implement small-scale cell culture platforms using deep well plates (DWP or equivalent experience) to support various research and development projects.
  • Lead and participate in collaborative research projects with academic institutions, encouraging positive relationships and driving innovation.
  • Operate and maintain liquid handling systems and automation equipment to ensure efficient and accurate experimental workflows.
  • Engage in routine mammalian cell culture workflows involving media preparation, revival, and subculture as required for experiments.
  • Prepare and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, and present results at scientific conferences and meetings.
  • Generate experimental results and review respective scientific documentation.
  • Ensure lab procedures are strictly adhered to and support safety assessments.
  • Perform other lab duties as assigned.
Key requirements:
  • 2 to 5 years of experience with small-scale cell culture platforms using deep well plates.
  • Deep understanding of CHO cell physiology and systems biology approach, particularly with respect to Omics and pathway analysis.
  • Proven ability to operate and maintain liquid handling systems and automation equipment (Hamilton or Tecan preferred).
  • Outstanding skills in preparing and publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Experience with high-throughput workflows, CHO cell bioprocessing, cell culture, monoclonal antibody, and biologics.
  • Desired but not necessary: familiarity with Python.
  • Candidates with a PhD or equivalent experience in CHO cell bioprocessing research are encouraged to apply.
