Today, Lonza is a global leader in life sciences operating across three continents. While we work in science, there’s no magic formula to how we do it. Our greatest scientific solution is talented people working together, devising ideas that help businesses to help people. In exchange, we let our people own their careers. Their ideas, big and small, genuinely improve the world. And that’s the kind of work we want to be part of.

We are seeking a motivated and diligent Laboratory Intern Scientist to join our pharmaceutical development team. The intern will support the execution of formulation, analytical, or stability studies for drug product development under the guidance of expert scientists. This role offers hands-on experience in a GMP/GxP-aligned laboratory and an opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative biologics or small-molecule therapies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and testing of drug product samples (e.g. liquid and lyophilized products).
  • Perform routine analytical methods (e.g., pH, osmolality, UV-Vis, moisture content, visual inspection).
  • Support lab operations including reagent preparation, equipment calibration, inventory tracking, and sample management.
  • Document all work accurately in lab notebooks and electronic data systems in compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Participate in laboratory housekeeping and safety activities (chemical hygiene, 6S practices).
  • Work closely with formulation scientists, analytical chemists, and process engineers to collect and analyze experimental data.
  • Present findings in team meetings or internal forums as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience (in progress or recently completed) in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related life sciences.
  • Basic laboratory skills and familiarity with wet lab techniques.
  • Exposure to analytical instruments (e.g., HPLC, UV, balance, centrifuge) is a plus.
  • Good understanding of lab safety and data integrity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented mentality with attention to detail and organization.

Every day, Lonza’s products and services have a positive impact on millions of people. For us, this is not only a great privilege, but also a great responsibility. How we achieve our business results is just as important as the achievements themselves. At Lonza, we respect and protect our people and our environment. Any success we achieve is no success at all if not achieved ethically.

People come to Lonza for the challenge and creativity of solving complex problems and developing new ideas in life sciences. In return, we offer the satisfaction that comes with improving lives all around the world. The satisfaction that comes with making a meaningful difference.
