Today, Lonza is a global leader in life sciences operating across three continents. While we work in science, there’s no magic formula to how we do it. Our greatest scientific solution is talented people working together, devising ideas that help businesses to help people. In exchange, we let our people own their careers. Their ideas, big and small, genuinely improve the world. And that’s the kind of work we want to be part of.

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Head of Risk Management & Resilience to oversee the safety, business continuity, and regulatory compliance of our industrial park, home to over 7,000 employees. This role is critical in safeguarding operations against disruptions, ensuring long-term stability, and enhancing infrastructure resilience. The successful candidate will collaborate with stakeholders, implement emergency preparedness measures, and drive strategic risk mitigation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive risk management and resilience strategies across the entire industrial park.

  • Oversee and support the design and execution of emergency preparedness and response plans.

  • Ensure full compliance with local regulations and Lonza standards.

  • Assess and enhance physical infrastructure to withstand potential risks, including natural disasters, redundancy evaluations, and backup planning.

  • Act as the primary liaison for insurance providers, ensuring appropriate coverage and claims management.

  • Develop and maintain business continuity activities and lead mitigation initiatives for shared infrastructure.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including municipal authorities, cantonal bodies, and emergency response representatives.

  • Lead negotiations with third-party service providers and define service level agreements.

  • Support crisis team and intervention team readiness, including ETA Pikett management.

  • Act as project manager or end-to-end lead for relevant investment projects (up to 30% of the role).

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • University degree in Engineering (Master’s preferred) with proven experience in Project Management.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in German and English (French is an advantage).

  • Deep understanding of Biopharma manufacturing processes (including cGMP & safety aspects).

  • Demonstrated business acumen with a strong general management background.

  • Excellent presentation skills for engaging senior management and external stakeholders.

  • Leadership by example, with the ability to navigate high levels of ambiguity and complexity.

Every day, Lonza’s products and services have a positive impact on millions of people. For us, this is not only a great privilege, but also a great responsibility. How we achieve our business results is just as important as the achievements themselves. At Lonza, we respect and protect our people and our environment. Any success we achieve is no success at all if not achieved ethically.

People come to Lonza for the challenge and creativity of solving complex problems and developing new ideas in life sciences. In return, we offer the satisfaction that comes with improving lives all around the world. The satisfaction that comes with making a meaningful difference.
