The Global Manager Financial Compliance role based in Basel, Switzerland, combines the responsibility of subject matter expert for the Financial Control Framework governance and the role of an owner for two or more control cycles, directly linked to the business processes. The role has a global scope, with impact on all Lonza reporting units.
By defining standards and providing mentorship, the role has a direct influence on the financial compliance maturity level of Lonza, individual functions, and underlying business processes. The objective is to drive the global implementation and management of an effective and efficient financial control environment.
Key responsibilities:Lead the global strategy, governance, and execution of Lonza’s Financial Control Framework (ICS).
Act as the subject matter expert for internal controls, providing mentorship and training across all levels.
Manage the full lifecycle of the annual ICS process, including risk identification, testing, and reporting.
Partner with business divisions and global process owners to embed control standards into core processes.
Oversee the business side of the GRC tool (BWise), ensuring structure, compliance, and effective reporting.
Support integration of new entities into the financial control framework post-acquisition.
Drive awareness, capability-building, and communication on financial compliance throughout the organization.
Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, or equivalent professional experience in Audit/Compliance.
10+ years in Finance, Audit, or Financial Compliance with proven global or cross-functional scope.
Professional qualifications such as CPA, CIA, or Six Sigma are preferred.
Strong analytical and financial skills, with a hands-on approach to GRC tools (BWise experience is a plus).
Experience of consulting on or managing control frameworks in complex business environments.
Business proficiency in English; knowledge of German, French, or other languages is a plus.
Proven capacity to initiate change, lead with integrity, and impact diverse global collaborators.
