Join Lonza Pharma & Biotech in Bend, Oregon, as an Experienced Microbiologist. In this role, you will contribute to the development and manufacture of life-changing therapies while working alongside a collaborative team in a highly regulated laboratory environment.
This is a fully site-based role. Working together in person supports close, real-time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

What you will do
- Design, validate, and transfer microbiological testing methods in compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
- Support testing and release activities for raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
- Lead environmental monitoring activities and analyze data to help reduce contamination risks.
- Maintain, qualify, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure reliable results.
- Author, review, and approve technical documents, including protocols, procedures, and reports.
- Support audit readiness and represent the microbiology function during inspections and client visits.
- Mentor team members and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the laboratory.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or another related scientific discipline.
- Experience working in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of microbiological techniques, including bioburden, sterility, and endotoxin testing.
- Experience with environmental monitoring in cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environments.
- Understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and quality requirements.
- Experience supporting validation, qualification, or contamination control activities.
- Availability to work a 4x10-hour shift schedule that includes one weekend day.
