Engineering Contractor Coordinator

Location: Slough, United Kingdom

The Engineering Contractor Coordinator role is based at Lonza’s Slough site, supporting safe and compliant contractor operations within a highly regulated environment. This is an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in ensuring engineering and maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with GMP standards.

What you will do
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all on-site contractors, ensuring safe and compliant working practices

  • Coordinate contractor activities alongside engineering and operations to minimise disruption and maximise efficiency

  • Manage the Permit to Work (PTW) system, including issuing, reviewing, and closing permits

  • Review and approve risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), ensuring all safety controls are in place

  • Monitor contractor performance and compliance, escalating any safety or quality concerns

  • Support engineering teams with maintenance, shutdowns, and project activities

  • Maintain accurate records and support audits, inspections, and incident investigations

What we are looking for
  • Experience working in a regulated environment (e.g. pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical, or food industries)

  • Strong knowledge of Permit to Work systems and safe systems of work

  • Understanding of health & safety legislation and compliance requirements

  • Experience coordinating or supervising contractors in a technical or operational setting

  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders

  • Confidence to challenge unsafe behaviours and enforce high standards

  • Relevant health & safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH or IOSH) or equivalent experience is desirable
