Join Lonza as a Data Architect and play a pivotal role in shaping our enterprise data ecosystem. In this role, you will design and deliver scalable, cloud-based data architectures that enable advanced analytics and support critical business decisions across the organization.

This is an office‑first role. Working together in person supports close, real‑time collaboration and team alignment, enabling us to deliver our best work. You will work primarily in the office, with the flexibility to work remotely for 20% of your time (one day per week).

What you will do:
  • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-wide data architecture aligned with Lonza’s data strategy.
  • Architect and deliver modern, cloud-native data platforms using Microsoft Azure technologies.
  • Define data architecture standards, blueprints, and best practices to ensure scalability, security, and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to enable efficient data integration and usage.
  • Provide architectural oversight for data ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption layers.
  • Drive data governance initiatives, ensuring compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to continuously improve Lonza’s data platform capabilities.
     
What we are looking for:
  • Solid experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related disciplines within enterprise environments.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure data services such as Azure Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, and Purview.
  • Deep understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and modern data architecture principles (e.g., data fabric).
  • Proven ability to design scalable and secure data solutions across complex, distributed systems.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across technical and business teams.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience working in regulated industries or environments with strong data governance requirements is a plus.
