Lonza MSP CH
Buyer
Drive strategic capital investment projects at Lonza’s Stein site by managing end-to-end commercial procurement—from process equipment and automation to engineering and construction services. This is a site-based role with limited flexibility, where your procurement expertise directly enables the timely, cost-effective buildout of world-class biopharmaceutical facilities.
Site-based with limited flexibility
This role is primarily based on site. Working together in person supports close, real‑time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards. We offer flexibility to work remotely for no more than 20% of your time. Requests are considered on a case‑by‑case basis, in line with business needs.
What you will get:
An agile career and dynamic working culture.
An inclusive and ethical workplace.
Competitive hourly rate / compensation package.
Compensation for this role will be determined by the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and relevant knowledge.
What you will do:
Lead end-to-end procurement and strategic sourcing activities for major CAPEX investment projects across process equipment, engineering design, automation, and construction services.
Partner closely with Project Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, and Quality teams to align procurement strategies with overall project execution schedules.
Drive competitive bidding, commercial negotiations, contract drafting, and dispute/claims resolution in collaboration with Legal and Lead Buyers.
Manage vendor relationships and continuously monitor supplier delivery schedules, risk profiles, and performance metrics across the project lifecycle.
Execute rigorous cost management and commercial assessments, tracking procurement savings, value engineering, and cost avoidance metrics.
Utilize Lonza’s PMP, SAP, and Unifier platforms intensively for procurement reporting, contract tracking, data entry, and expediting.
Ensure all sourcing and contracting practices comply with corporate ethics, quality, safety, EHS, and sustainability guidelines.
What we are looking for:
Proven procurement or sourcing experience (5+ years) with a strong focus on CAPEX, construction, or engineering projects, ideally within pharma, biotech, chemicals, or industrial manufacturing.
Track record of managing procurement activities for large-scale capital projects and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
Solid grasp of project management methodologies, total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis, and technical procurement processes.
Proficiency with enterprise procurement and project tracking systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba, Unifier).
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Strong negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence cross-functional project teams.
Professional fluency in English; proficiency in German is a strong advantage for interfacing with local suppliers and contractors.
