Biotechnologist – Cell Therapy Operations (Night Shift)

Location: Portsmouth, NH, USA.

The Future of Medicine is Growing in Portsmouth. Due to high demand from our global clients and the rapid success of our specialized therapies, Lonza is dramatically expanding our Cell Therapy manufacturing team. We are currently seeking motivated and caring individuals to join our Night Shift team. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-energy "ramp-up" phase where you will be part of a large, supportive cohort and have the chance to grow quickly alongside our most innovative asset.

Schedule

  • Shift: Rotational Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

  • Pattern: 2 days on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off (repeating cycle)

  • Orientation: Your first 2-week orientation and training period will be held on the day shift.

What You’ll Get

  • Competitive Shift Differential: In addition to a base salary, this role includes a significant shift differential and premium pay for weekend hours, recognizing the dedication required for night-shift operations.

  • Be Part of a Cohort: Join a group of 8+ new hires starting together, creating a collaborative and supportive team environment from day one.

  • A Rare Professional Craft: Master "Aseptic Technique" and Grade B operations—the gold standard of the biotech industry.

  • Rapid Advancement: In a high-growth asset, those who show initiative often find accelerated paths into lead or specialist roles.

  • Full Lonza Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and performance-based incentives. Our full list of global benefits: https://www.lonza.com/careers/benefits.

What You’ll Do

  • The Art of the Cleanroom: To protect our patients, we work in Grade B cleanrooms. You will become an expert in "sterile gowning," wearing specialized head-to-toe protective gear to maintain a pristine, focused environment.

  • Handling Life-Saving Materials: You will work directly with human-derived biological materials (patient starting products). You will learn to handle these materials with the utmost care, knowing every vial represents a patient’s journey toward recovery.

  • Precision Hood Work: Cell therapy is a "hands-on" science. You will perform delicate manual tasks inside laminar flow hoods (sterile workstations). It’s the perfect role for someone who enjoys meticulous work.

  • Ramp-Up Excellence: Support the scaling of our production suites to meet client deadlines, ensuring every batch meets our strict quality and "Right First Time" standards.

  • Documentation: Ensure the story of the medicine’s creation is as flawless as the medicine itself by maintaining meticulous real-time records.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Schedule: Ability to work the rotating night shift (7 PM – 7 AM). The 2-2-3 pattern ensures you have consistent time to recharge and long weekends.

  • Eagerness to Learn: We hire across all experience levels for this evergreen. We prioritize reliability, a "can-do" attitude, and a passion for helping people over prior biotech experience.

  • Resilience: Comfortable with the physical nature of cleanroom work, including standing and wearing sterile gear, while maintaining focus during the night hours.

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Team Spirit: With a rapidly growing team, we need team players who want to build a positive, high-performing culture together.
