Associate Manager in Process Development (PDEV) leads a team, driving end-to-end development activities with increasing technical scope. Responsible for coaching and developing team members, optimizing resources, and ensuring timely, high-quality delivery within budget. Also contributes as a project lead, with hands-on involvement in lab activities as required.

What you’ll do: 

  •  Ensure strict adherence to EHS and cGMP standards, maintaining high-quality and compliant lab operations  

  • Lead a team of scientists and analysts performing downstream purification activities, including process development and process characterization. 

  • Lead  downstream purification activities with increasing technical complexity  

  • Manage and schedule resources (team, equipment, systems) to deliver projects aligned with department sales plans  

  • Coach, train, and develop team members in technical, scientific, and leadership capabilities  

  • Act as SME in key technical areas with growing knowledge of regulatory and IP landscapes  

  • Lead and contribute to multiple complex projects, including change and capital initiatives  

  • Oversee documentation, review, and approval of reports/protocols to meet quality and compliance standards  

  • Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives across the department  

  • Present data to customers and support business development activities (proposals, presentations, lab tours)  

  • Ensure GMP compliance and participate in internal/external audits  

  • Build strong cross-functional relationships to support project delivery and business objectives  

  • Uphold and improve data integrity practices in line with company policies  

  • Take ownership of decision-making within area of expertise and support departmental strategy  

  • Any other duties as assigned by Management 

What we’re looking for: 

  • Degree/PhD in a relevant Science field or Equivalent 

  • Adequate experience in downstream Process development or Process characterization and be familiar with laboratory scale execution of various techniques including affinity and ion exchange chromatography using the AKTA system, ultrafiltration/diafiltration and viral reduction strategies. 

  • Experience in technology transfer and/or the use of DoE methodologies would also be considered advantageous. 

  • Understanding and application of theory involved in purification of recombinant proteins. 

  • Understanding of cGMP regulations will be advantageous 

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
